Make your portal the "Forum Home".
Not quite the same as making portal.asp the default file on your web server, but a comfortable second choice requiring only a minor change. If your main website directs people to portal.asp, this tweak should take care of the rest.

I became a little frustrated by being redirected to the admin menu after every change I made to the portal content, so I made a few minor changes to redirect me to the portal admin submenu instead. Here they are if you are interested.

Fixed a bug in the Login box
Added Printer Friendly and Previous/Next Article functionality
