I think that this is one of the best avatar addons. Simple and clean.

Allows members to upload avatars without having an Admin approve as long as it is the correct file size and file type. Admins have the ability to stop uploads within the config settings. They can also delete any avatar on the spot that doesn't meet any of the requirements.
With new features, Admins can now specify file extensions and manage each category allowing or disabling uploading. Also users can now upload a personal avatar that others users cannot see or use.
